Soon after, another son William came along and together they all lived in the Filipponi Ranch in the south end of San Luis Obispo. Norm had a natural ability to relate to his students and he was adored by most of them who eventually became good friends. Together with his very good friends, Herb Filipponi and Lynn Cooper Norm began a SLO tradition known as Old Country Deli. In August of 1986, Mary was diagnosed with terminal cancer of the colon. She passed away in November and Norm became a single parent to his three young children. He has showed incredible strength and maintained a successful operation of the Deli. He has raised his children to become successful adults. Norm lives on his property in Garden Farms, Atascadero and is looking forward to the next chapter of his life and of Old Country Deli.
